Welcome to the Harrisburg School District

It is with deep sadness that the Harrisburg School District acknowledges the in-home shooting of a young, vibrant student who attends Foose Elementary School.  According to a statement issued by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police during a press conference, the victim is in critical, but stable condition at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. As a District and community, we are extremely grateful for the quick and life-saving response of Harrisburg police officers and first responders. On behalf of Foose Elementary School and our entire School District, we extend heartfelt thoughts and prayers to our student and her family.
To support students and staff, the Harrisburg School District will have counselors available tomorrow and next week at Foose School (and throughout the District if needed).
If parents have concerns about their child or if they display emotions and/or behaviors that are out of the ordinary, parents should call Dauphin County Crisis Intervention at (717) 232-7511. Counselors at this number are available 24 hours a day. Stay tuned to local news stations for updates.

Educationally yours,

Dr. Sybil Knight-Burney
