Ms. Robbins' Pages

Messages for students & parents:
  • Practice is such an ugly word.  But practice makes perfect, or at least as close as you can get.  I prefer the word "play."  Get your instrument out and play!  You can tell all the grown-ups in your life how hard you are "working" on learning your music while secretly enjoying yourself.  It's a great way to get a 20 minute break from homework, because it IS HOMEWORK!  (Another ugly word.)  See the Practice Page for tips and pics to make the best use of practice time and sound great doing it.

  • Buying an instrument Consult with me before you make that purchase...don't make that investment without some expert advice.  There's an awful lot of junk making it's way into classrooms and discouraging kids from playing because it doesn't work right.  There are inexpensive good instruments out there, if you know what to look for and where to go.  I will make myself available to any parent who wants help.
